Made to measure silicone washers - Bluemay Weston
Silicone Washers

Precision Silicone Washers Manufactured in the UK

Bluemay Weston manufactures precision silicone washers to standard and bespoke specifications for customers across a wide range of industries. Produced using our punching and water jet cutting capabilities, silicone washers can be supplied in small development quantities through to high-volume production runs.

Silicone is a flexible, resilient and temperature-resistant material valued for its sealing, cushioning and insulating properties. These characteristics make silicone washers a practical choice for electrical, industrial, medical, food processing, packaging and general engineering applications where a soft, durable non-metallic washer is required.

Flexible, Resilient and Temperature-Resistant Washers

Silicone washers offer an effective combination of flexibility, compression recovery and resistance to ageing. Unlike rigid engineering plastics, silicone can deform under pressure and return towards its original shape, making it particularly useful for sealing, cushioning and vibration-damping applications.

Silicone also performs well across a wide temperature range and offers good resistance to weathering, ozone and UV exposure. Silicone washers are frequently specified where components may be exposed to changing temperatures, outdoor conditions, moisture or applications requiring a softer washer material than nylon, PTFE or acetal.

Frequently Asked Questions About Silicone Washers

Silicone washers are used in applications where sealing, flexibility, cushioning, electrical insulation or temperature resistance is required. They are commonly found in electrical assemblies, lighting components, food processing machinery, medical equipment, packaging machinery and general industrial applications.

Silicone is a flexible synthetic rubber material known for its resilience, temperature resistance and good ageing characteristics. It is widely used for washers, seals, gaskets and other non-metallic components where flexibility and durability are important.

Silicone washers can typically operate within a temperature range of approximately -60°C to +200°C, although this can vary depending on the grade of silicone, thickness, load and operating environment. Specialist grades may be suitable for different performance requirements.

Silicone offers resistance to many environmental conditions, including moisture, ozone and UV exposure. However, it is not suitable for every chemical environment, particularly where oils, fuels, solvents or aggressive chemicals are present. The application should be reviewed before specifying silicone washers.

Yes. Silicone has good electrical insulating properties and is often used in electrical and electronic assemblies. Silicone washers can provide non-metallic separation, cushioning and insulation between components.

Yes. Bluemay Weston manufactures silicone washers in both standard and bespoke sizes. Components can be produced to customer drawings, dimensions or samples using punching and water jet cutting techniques.

Silicone washers are a type of rubber washer, but silicone generally offers better temperature resistance, ageing resistance, UV resistance and ozone resistance than many conventional rubber materials. Other rubber materials may be better suited to applications involving oils, fuels or heavy mechanical abrasion.

Silicone washers are moisture resistant and can be suitable for many wet or outdoor applications. Their flexibility and sealing characteristics make them useful where a softer non-metallic washer is required to help cushion or seal between components.

Silicone is commonly used in food processing and medical applications, but the correct material grade must be specified. If the washer will be used in direct food contact or regulated environments, the required grade and compliance requirements should be confirmed before manufacture.

Bluemay Weston can manufacture silicone washers in quantities ranging from prototypes and small development batches through to high-volume production runs of many thousands or millions of components, depending on customer requirements.
